Welcome to WHS Computer Software Reviews

Computer software is getting better all the time and there's are so many programs that it can be hard to know what's good from what's available. This is place to tell us about the stuff that you use at home or in school and how good you think it is.

Remember to include the name of the program and the type of program (such as a photo editor, web page designer, or music generator). But what we really want to know is what you think of it - you may even persuade someone else to get it after reading your review.

Put your suggestions for other computer programs to review in the comment section below.

Microsoft Photo Story 3 - Freeware

Photo Story 3 is the program which we use to produce the video slideshows in the WHS SchoolDays Project. Is is very easy to use, produces great results and best of all, it's FREE.

You can download Photo Story 3 from Microsoft's website here. You do need to be running Windows XP and Media Player 10 or higher, the latter of which is also free from Microsoft. You can get Media Player 10 here.

Photo Story 3 allows you to import your digital photos, arrange them into a sequence, add titles, effects and music and then make a 'movie' or video slideshow file from them. The video slideshow can be viewed in any recent movie player software and there are option to save files in various resolutions for different applications, including mobile devices.

Take a look at some of examples of what we have done with Photo Story 3:

To summarise, Photo Story 3 is great piece of software for producing video slideshows: it is easy to use, produces great results quickly and is free of charge.

Watch this space for a review of Microsoft's free sister program, Movie Maker 2, which does to digital video what Photo Story 3 does to digital photos.
